YANNIS ADONIOU

STRANGERS

29/9

Municipal Theater of Piraeus, 21.30

ATHENS PREMIERE
DURATION: 40'

With Strangers, Yannis Adoniou is proposing a contemporary and innovative dance work that has to do with hearing as an action, or, the “act of listening.” For this work, he is collaborating with pioneering Spanish choreographer/dancer Jone San Martin.

Is it likely that a musical score serves to set free rather than dictate? If coexistence is, especially now, a necessary condition, what lies between us? Is it the silence between words that makes language understandable?

Through live sounds and texts, the performing “strangers” are called upon to convey movement as an act of listening to the audio action. The body is fundamentally connected to the conditions of sound and tells how listening makes things / words / spaces more comprehensible.
